Allwyn Receives Green Light to Take Over UK National Lottery
The official green light has been given to Allwyn to manage the UK National Lottery, concluding a phase of legal ambiguity and ushering in a fresh chapter for this cherished British establishment. This development follows the withdrawal of legal objections to the decision by Camelot, the incumbent operator, and its technological associate, IGT.
Allwyn’s stewardship is scheduled to commence in February 2024, spanning a decade. While Camelot and IGT are pursuing upwards of £600 million in damages from the Gambling Commission, the route is now unobstructed for Allwyn to assume control.
Allwyn has ambitious aspirations for the National Lottery, encompassing the utilization of cutting-edge technology to enhance the participant journey, guaranteeing secure engagement, and most crucially, generating even greater funds for worthy endeavors throughout the UK. This new phase holds the promise of innovation and a revitalized emphasis on the Lottery’s substantial contribution to bolstering communities nationwide.
Were launching an exciting new phase! Our bold reshaping strategy is formally commencing at our Waterford central office.
To maximize upcoming prospects, we must foster a setting where the National Lottery can flourish and pioneer. Our primary objective in this evolution is ethically expanding our income to amplify our contributions to charitable endeavors. We’re eager to have our current Camelot teammates in Waterford accompany us on this venture.
Andrew Rhodes, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission, remarked: “Within a competitive landscape, and subsequent to the court’s ruling to revoke the suspension on granting the license, we are content to officially bestow the fourth license to Allwyn. We anticipate collaborating with all stakeholders to guarantee a seamless and proficient transition.”
