Churchill Downs Expands Kentucky Footprint with New Historical Horse Racing Venue
The renowned Churchill Downs Incorporated is broadening its horizons within Kentucky. They recently acquired property to the east of Owensboro in Daviess County, aiming to construct a novel amusement center showcasing Historical Horse Racing devices.
This fresh establishment will complement their current Ellis Park Racing & Gaming site in Henderson, Kentucky, which they procured in 2022. The income produced from this new venture will directly bolster the equine racing activities at Ellis Park.
Churchill Downs expresses enthusiasm in expanding upon the century-old tradition of racing at Ellis Park, affectionately dubbed the “Pea Patch,” and in contributing to the financial prosperity of the area. They intend to disclose further particulars regarding the development, encompassing the precise location and investment strategies, in the approaching months.
This proclamation follows Churchill Downs’ resolution to briefly pause live racing events at Ellis Park from June 7th to July 3rd, 2023.
The renowned Churchill Downs racetrack, known for hosting the Kentucky Derby, has recently come under fire and sorrow following a string of equine fatalities that marred the iconic venue. Despite the heartbreaking demise of a dozen horses, Churchill Downs, along with its wagering associate, TwinSpires, proceeded to disclose the betting statistics for the month of May.
